About Ostrich Shin

Okapi’s ostrich leather is sustainably and ethically sourced as a by-product of the existing free-range ostrich farming industry in South Africa. Through the close relationships which we have fostered with the farming communities in the Karoo region, we are able to give complete transparency and ensure that our natural materials are 100 % traceable, ethical and sustainably sourced. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure all processes are of the highest safety and quality, along with ethical production practices that respect both animal welfare and the environment. The uniqueness of our leathers is characterized by the deliberate inclusion of the natural markings that the animals incur in the wild. The natural markings that the animal incurs in the wild are included on the skins which are used. This gives each Okapi piece a more organic and changeable quality.
